FROM THE TOP: It's All about Relationships
As Tom Reilly writes in Value-Added Selling, "Building this personal and professional relationship ... on a foundation of trust is a prerequisite for ... success. If two people trust each other and feel a loyalty to each other and want to seal their business future because of this friendship, they will work out the details."

Here are my tips on how to build successful relationships.

1. Make a great first impression.
2. Tell a compelling story.
3. Prepare and prepare some more. Know your stuff.
4. Do your homework about the person/company you are meeting. If it's a potential investor, know something about their investments and their successes.
5. Demonstrate vision, be passionate.
6. Listen. Discuss. Don't argue.

If you don't prepare for a relationship, you won't create one.

IN GOOD COMPANY??
From Karen Kozek, Trendlines marketing communications consultant and Trendletter editor

Our summer reading list was going to appear in this space; however, I have pre-empted the list with breaking news that we were among the 750 websites that had been hacked by a group from Morocco. In place of our home page, the hackers posted a political message. According to ynet news.com and Globes[online], many Israeli commercial sites were affected including BMW Israel, Bank Hapoalim, the Globes group, and Rambam Hospital. Once discovered, we quickly restored the home page.

Watch for our summer reading list in next month's Trendletter.
