Shorashim, Israel — January 8, 2006—Reimbursement is the key to success
to successfully penetrate the American market. Medical device diagnostic companies
require not only a regulatory review for their products, but also a comprehensive
reimbursement strategy.
The fourth MarketReach America business development
program, Medical Devices 2006, will kick off at a full-day medical reimbursement
strategy conference on January 16, 2006, at the Tel Aviv Hilton.
Keynote speakers at the event will be Lynn Shapiro Snyder, Robert Wanerman, Marcia
Nusgart, and Steve Rhodes.
“We are pleased to be coming to Israel to inform and advise Israeli medical
device and diagnostic companies about key issues related to reimbursement strategies, ” says
Snyder, who is the director of the Health Care Practice at Epstein Becker & Green,
P.C. (www.ebglaw.com) a global law firm with the largest health care practice
in the United States. EB &G has over 100 attorneys practicing health care
law.
"With the rising costs of health care in the United States, and the increasing
scrutiny by health plans, a reimbursement strategy is even more imperative for
success. We want to enlighten the audience about the issues they will confront,
the bumps in the road, and the guidance they need for success.”
Snyder has more than 25 years' experience in reimbursement strategy. She was
named one of the top 100 most powerful people in the U.S. health care industry.
In his presentation, Robert Wanerman, senior counsel at EB & G, will take
a closer look at issues related to coverage for medical devices. He has more
than 20 years' experience in reimbursement strategies, 11 of which were with
the Medicare program.
The third U.S. presenter, Marcia Nusgart, R.Ph. of Nusgart Consulting LLC (www.nusgartconsulting.com),
is one of America’s leading consultants on medical device coding and reimbursement
strategies. She serves as the executive director for four medical device manufacturer
industry coalitions focusing on wound care, respiratory care, enteral nutrition,
and wheelchair seating.
Steve Rhodes, chairman of The Trendlines Group, will assess various market entry
strategies Israeli companies can taken when approaching the $1.4 trillion U.S.
health care sector.
"Coverage, coding, and reimbursement for medical devices and diagnostics
in the U.S. market has not yet become a top priority for Israeli companies, "notes
D. Todd Dollinger, chairman of The Trendlines Group. "We know this seminar
will provide critical information for Israeli medical products companies, so
when they reach the marketing stage, they are well-equipped to proceed … and
succeed.”
Data from the Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute indicate
that exports from Israeli life science companies totaled $2.6 billion in 2004,
with 60% of these exports going to the United States. Approximately 700 companies
are actively involved in the life sciences field and of these companies, 280
export their products.
The seminar is sponsored by MarketReach America, the Maryland/Israel Development
Center, The Trendlines Group, and the Israel Export & International Cooperation
Institute. Other sponsors include EB&G, Sunrise Projects, and the Israel
Life Sciences Industry. Media sponsor is The Marker.
