MarketReach America life sciences participants announced; applications for Information, Communication and Electronic Technology (ICET) and Dual-use Technology program open

Shorashim, Israel — March 21, 2004 — MarketReachAmerica, the new business development initiative aimed at assisting Israeli companies commercialize their product or technology in the U.S. market, has announced the successful applicants in the Life Sciences 2004 program. The five companies are —
  • Andante Medical Devices Ltd., developers of Smart Step System that provides accurate, real-time monitoring of weight bearing during physical rehabilitation

  • Chiasma Ltd., developers of an innovative method for oral delivery of large molecule drugs

  • MGVS Ltd., developers of products based on the patients' own cells for the treatment of vascular disorders

  • ET View Ltd., developers of an innovative approach to airway management in acute respiratory failure

  • SLP Ltd., developers of sensors for use in sleep laboratories and sleep disorder screening at home
"MarketReach America brings together promising Israeli companies with life science business experts to provide U.S. market entry consulting and a business support structure in America and Israel to expedite their successful penetration into the American market," says Steve Rhodes, managing director, The Trendlines Group.

Applications Open for New ICET Program
As the Life Sciences program gets underway, applications are being invited for the Information, Communication and Electronic Technology (ICET) and Dual-use Technology program. The second $350,000 MarketReach America program is once again being funded by the Maryland/Israel Development Center (MIDC) and The Trendlines Group, with major support provided by a grant from the U.S.-Israel Science & Technology Foundation (USISTF).

"The aim is to help Israeli businesspeople position their products and technologies for success in the American market by providing consulting and support with strategic planning, business development, entrepreneurship, finance and cross-cultural business issues; then to assist with contacts in the U.S. high-tech sector through a well-connected network," notes Barry Bogage, executive director of the MIDC.

Israeli companies that are ready for launch into the American market, or are "strategic-partnering" ready are eligible to participate in the program. Applicants for the new program can come from a wide range of fields including: software, hardware, IT applications, appliances, mobile communications, optics, electronics miniaturization, nanotechnology, process optimization, remote sensing and surveillance technologies, imaging technologies, continuous monitoring technologies, secure cyber infrastructure, chemical and biological sensing and diagnostic equipment, and bioinformatics.

Trendlines and the MIDC will assist the seven selected companies with a package of business services specifically tailored to their needs. Some of these services include business strategy formation, in-depth market research, consulting, and business development implementation. Applications to the program are due by April 30, 2004.
