Headway has developed the first computerized treatment table to relieve chronic neck pain and headache — Occiflex.
The patented technology delivers a safe, effective, and noninvasive solution that is based on proven physiotherapy principles. Occiflex enhances a therapist’s treatment toolbox to improve patient treatment outcomes and can help increase a clinic’s productivity.
Occiflex uses Headway’s unique, patented Teach and Repeat technology. The treatment table mimics the techniques of a manual therapist to deliver an automated, tailored patient treatment. As the treatment is now executed without the need of a therapist, the therapist is empowered to treat other patients simultaneously.
As a result, Occiflex can help increase a clinic’s productivity. Patient treatment outcomes are also improved as the Occiflex computerized treatment table can deliver more accurate and longer-lasting neck mobilization than current manual treatments.
Three clinical trials showed pain reduced by 48% over 12 weeks from treatment with Occiflex¹,²,³.

Lack of a technologically effective solution. Today more than 2 billion people suffer from neck pain and headache³ such as migraines and tension-type headaches. These painful disorders are often associated with muscle pain-sensitivity and a reduced range of neck motion, which can lead to a significant decrease in a patient’s quality of life. Globally, 33.6 million years of life are lived with neck pain4. With an aging population, and more people spending time in front of computers, these numbers are only set to increase.
Currently there is no effective solution to treat chronic neck pain and headaches. Current treatments — medications, invasive procedures, and alternative therapies — are, in many cases, ineffective, short-acting, and have severe side effects.
Furthermore, manual therapy, though effective, is limited. Treatment effectiveness is restricted by the physical strength of a therapist (a 20-30 minute effective, consistent treatment is currently impossible to do manually).
Headway’s technological solution, Occiflex, overcomes these issues.
Enhancing a therapist’s treatment toolbox. Occiflex provides a cost-effective solution that empowers therapists to deliver long-lasting, continuous, accurate mobilization of areas around the damaged muscles to relieve chronic pain. Furthermore, Headway’s patented Teach and Repeat technology enables a therapist to deliver tailored patient treatments and to treat other patients simultaneously due to freeing up of therapist time.
There are more than 16,000 physical therapy clinics in the United States and 50,000 worldwide. About 50 million Americans suffer from chronic neck pain and headache associated with cervical muscle dysfunction.
