About

Tendonplus Medical is developing a solution to prevent sutures from cutting into the tendon, thereby reducing the chances for post-rotator cuff surgery failure.

Market Need

In the United States alone, there are 33 million musculoskeletal injuries suffered by individuals every year and about half of these injuries involve the tendons, ligaments and joint capsular. One of the more common procedures involving tendons or ligaments is the rotator cuff repair, with an estimated 300,000 procedures performed in the USA annually (Idata research). The failure rates for rotator cuff repairs can be very high, and re-tears after repairs are not uncommon. In general, 40% of repairs fail within 12 months.
