Portfolio Company EcoPhage Receives U.S. EPA Approval for GoldenEco®

Portfolio company EcoPhage, a leader in sustainable phage-based biopesticides, has received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) approval for GoldenEco®. GoldenEco is a targeted biopesticide developed to address destructive bacterial diseases in tomatoes and peppers caused by Xanthomonas and Pseudomonas. The approval opens the commercialization pathway for GoldenEco in the United States, subject to applicable state registrations and other requirements.

Bacterial diseases remain a major operational challenge for tomato and pepper growers, with conventional crop management relying heavily on chemical and metal-based treatments. Heightened regulatory scrutiny, environmental concerns, pathogen resistance, and rising demand for sustainable farming practices are driving the market toward effective biological solutions. GoldenEco leverages EcoPhage’s proprietary bacteriophage technology to deploy naturally occurring phages that specifically target and destroy bacterial pathogens without chemical residues.

GoldenEco represents the first product in EcoPhage’s platform to achieve U.S. commercial entry, proving the company’s ability to advance phage-based biopesticides from research and development through rigorous regulatory review.

Following the EPA approval, EcoPhage will execute its commercial roll-out by collaborating with U.S. commercial partners, distributors, and growers to prepare for market development and distribution.
